East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar, led the unused aerial cable controlling along Jalan Pondok Kelapa, Duren Sawit, Rabu (11/6). The activity was held by Bina Marga Sub-agency.

The controlling is part of area arrangement

Symbolically, Anwar together with East Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency Head Benhard Hutajulu cut the aerial cable. Then the controlling was continued by 40 Bina Marga Taskforce personnel assisted by Association of Telecommunication Service Providers (Apjatel).

Anwar assessed that the clean-up was carried out because the aerial cables looked messy and disturbed the beauty of the city and the safety of road users.

"The controlling is part of area arrangement. Next, Jakarta as a global city must be arranged neatly, safely and comfortably," Anwar said.

Anwar also asked Apjatel no to install cables inside the water channel since it can block the water line and trigger inundation.

East Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency Head, Benhard Hutajulu, explained total 2,970 meter of aerial cable was controlled on both right and left side of the road. It started from intersection of Jalan Raya Laksamana Malahayati up to intersection of Jalan H Dogon and Jalan Tipar Kav DKI.

"The cables were not being used since it was already moved underground," he explained.

Moreover, East Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency's City Utility and Facility Section Head, Yanuar Ikhsan, stated his side deployed 20 personnel accompanied by 15 personnel of Apjatel.

"The aerial cable controlling is targeted to complete December," he stated.
